X-Method – Sex, Alcohol, Rebel Music
5th August 2016Coming from the hallowed grounds of San Francisco’s Bay Area, X-Method are bringing their own brand of hardcore thrash to the masses via Pavement Records 12th August.
Sex, Alcohol, Rebel Music is genuinely a blast from the past & as track 2 states it’s Brutal As Fuck.
From the off, Denied What’s Ours, picks you up & drops you from a 40 storey building before picking you up & doing it all again
16 tracks of pure mayhem with some incredibly dark lyrics, blast beats, shredding solos & growling vocals that are reminiscent of 2 brown bears ‘enjoying each others company.’
Sonically this is a celebration of the Bay Area but X-Method flip it to one side & add in some serious staccato riffs especially on the track Southern Comfort where Tony & Markus show just how good their melodic rhythm work is.
The bass work from Larry is tremendous. Although slightly understated in the mix, the way he jumps around the fret board to mirror the root notes & accompany the drum patterns of Collin shows the extent of his musicianship.
Abby’s vocals are incredible. Wasting My Tears & And I Know (which are about as close to ballads as this bunch of nutters get) features a slightly softer side & almost soulful sound to Abbys vocal. But don’t let this fool you that X-Method are going to spend the rest of the album going softly into the dark night, it grabs you firmly by the short & curlies, twists & wont let go.
To say this album is immense is an understatement.
Highly recommended for fans of old & new school thrash.
