RØRY – RESTORATION ALBUM REVIEW

RØRY – RESTORATION ALBUM REVIEW

24th December 2024 0 By Laura Jane

After reviewing RØRY‘s previous album “Family Drama” back in November 2023 which scored a 8/10 (Click >> HERE<< to read this review) I only felt it was fair for me to give my 2 cent and review her new upcoming release “RESTORATION”. Roxanne Emery, known also by her stage name RØRY is known for her emotionally fueled music and for being a massive advocate for neurodivergency on social media (being a fellow AuDHD spicy-brained woman, I have found her social media expression and discussions about ADHD relatable and a breath of fresh air to watch, I’d highly recommend before I even get into this review that you should check social media for these videos).

Anyway, before going off topic again as usual let’s get down to it… How will “Restoration” fair against “Family Drama”. The album starts off with “If pain could talk, what would it say?”,

Throughout the album it’s evidentially clear that it is a deeply personal and emotional journey, reflecting RØRY’s experiences with grief, addiction, and ultimately, her path to sobriety and self-discovery alongside self-struggling and sabotage.

Notable tracks  on this album are “One Drink Away” and “Sorry I’m Late”. For me these tracks really hit home and you could feel the vulnerability that was being displayed during these tracks. Hats off completely to RØRY for having the courage to be unapologetically honest and raw with her emotions.

The album is officially released on the 31st of January 2025 however you can currently listen to the tracks “In the Bible”, “Blossom”, “One Drink Away”, “MORALITY $UICIDE” and “Sorry I’m Late” currently on Spotify >> HERE << and is currently available to pre-save for release.

Overall, this album is a solid release from RØRY and I believe that it deserves praise for its raw emotional value and vulnerability that is exposed in this album. I am a sucker for someone who can speak their mind and not be shy with their emotions and this album for me ticked all of those boxes. Musically, I absolutely adore it. Lyrically, can not fault it. I’d highly recommend listening to the album upon release and experiencing this first hand (possibly keep a small box of tissue on hand just in case you get hit in the feels throughout this roller coaster of an album). The only reason I am rating this album a 9.5, not a 10, is that I felt there was a small ‘something’ missing and absolutely tiny. I don’t know if it was maybe just the general genre that didn’t hit home for a full 10/10 or if it was something about the recording but I personally felt I could not validate a 10/10 but it was so god damn near. Comparing this to “Family Drama” I would say the evolution in her music has progressed positively and lyrically has proven that she is not a one-trick pony. I am stoked to see her continue to release music and develop her style and sound along the way.

More than anything, though, ‘RESTORATION’ is an album that wants you to remember that
everybody is on their own journey. It’s here to encourage empathy and understanding of
what life throws at others and to know that everybody just wants to find peace away from
the noise. It also symbolises that anything is possible, even when you’re standing at
oblivion’s edge. You can conquer whatever is put before you. You can do what feels right to
you. You can change other lives as much as you can change your own, and that doesn’t
mean changing who you are along the way.
