Southampton three-piece Broken Links released there debut album in November of last year via Devil Theory records. Hailing as an album full of stadium rock this is an album I had to check out.
The three piece claim musical influence from such icons as Depeche Mode, Joy Division and Nine Inch Nails, and the influence of late Joy Division vocalist Ian Curtis is certainly evident through singer/guitarist Mark Lawrence style of delivery.
The music itself is intricate and definitely air pumping in the sense of an indie rock fashion. Electronic synthesized rock is delivered throughout the main vein, and after all if it’s good enough for Muse……..this is a strong solid debut and worthy of attention for anyone who recognized the strength of some of the past indie rock of the eighties, early nineties and for some of the more diverse acts of today, I’m sure I’ve heard “Choice/Decay“ featured on a soundtrack/advert and it’s certainly worthy of that attention.
This is music to get lost in, to lose yourself and feel the rhythm. Broken Links are definitely a band to watch as they evolve, with such a strong and solid foundation, they should deliver great things moving forward.
