Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse Release Their Album ‘Good Times End Times’
29th March 2022Richly steeped in the music of New Orleans, the blues and more, Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse today release their brand-new, 8-track, second album ‘Good Times End Times’
The band fuses together the formidable talents of Greta Valenti and Robin Davey (whose previous band Well Hung Heart toured the USA and Europe, sharing stages with The Offspring, Foreigner, Fitz & the Tantrums, and Twenty One Pilots.
Delve back further into their careers and you’ll find roots that inspire and feed Beau Gris Gris’s outstanding and unique sound: the music of Louisiana that nourished New Orleans native Greta and the British blues background and credentials of Cornish-born Robin (that led to him becoming the youngest-ever inductee into the British Blues Hall of Fame).
Such roots make for a potent alchemy, to which Greta, Robin and their band bring their individual virtuoso skills, which come together with wonderful synergy and much energy, as you can hear in their singles ‘Bungalow Paradise’, ‘Fill Me Up’ and throughout the album.
Hence, you’ll not only find rich roots music, but also blues and cliché-free rock, not to mention Greta and Robin’s sharp, original lyrics brought to life by the full and varied range of Greta’s powerful, no holds barred but nuanced vocals and Robin’s razor-sharp guitar and solos; also, by solid drum work, honkytonk-style piano and bass, and more, for an impressive, full and vibrant sound with a distinctive New Orleans flavour, but more besides.
It’s been said that “to fully understand Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse is to experience the band live, a mix of soulful songs, intense energy, and world-class award-winning musicianship.”
Catching lightning in a bottle — particularly the electricity of first-rate live performance — is no mean feat, but Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse have done it, capturing (at Grow Vision Studios in Orange, California, USA) the enormous energy that the band generates and harnesses onstage, headlining festivals across Europe, including Upton Festival (UK), The Great British R&B Festival (UK), Moulin (Netherlands) and Blues Alive (Czech Republic). The band were also nominated for Band of the Year at the European Blues Awards.
For their sophomore album, the band were less concerned with staying within the confines of easily-labelled genres. Instead, they deliberately expanded their musical horizons, crossed boundaries, and drew on collaboration from the talent pooled in the band.
