Rock Against Racism and Punk Rock & Paintbrushes Unite To Share Vital Anti-Racist Message Using Art

18th May 2022 0 By Jon Deaux

Punk Rock & Paintbrushes is teaming up with Rock Against Racism to host art exhibits at Welcome To Rockville in Daytona Beach FL this May and Download Festival in the UK this June, promoting unity and social justice with art as their tool. Showcasing not only art & photography, these very special exhibits will also be debuting a project that started in 2021 with a variety of musicians who have designed and created art with important messages.

These messages range from “Embrace Difference” by Josh Freese of DEVO, Sting, “Music Disrupting Racism Here” by Matt Hensley of Flogging Molly, “Liberation over Oppression” by Jay Weinberg of Slipknot, “Equity Inclusion Justice” by Studio Number One as well as art from Carla Harvey of the Butcher Babies, Mike Gallo of Agnostic Front, Jennie Cotterill of Bad Cop Bad Cop, Dan Smith of Sharp Shock and visual artist Ryan Callisto.

The Rock Against Racism and Punk Rock & Paintbrushes exhibit will be on display for all in attendance at both Welcome To Rockville (USA) as well as Download Festival (UK)… this is just the beginning.

At both festivals there will be art auction created by musicians and artists supporting the Rock Against Racism cause and promoting this vital and important conversation with all. Artists have painted on TUK footwear in Florida ranging from members of Ministry, Slipknot (pictured), Alexisonfire, Bones UK and more. At Download Festival, artists and musicians have painted on drum heads for the Rock Against Racism art auction.

The message is clear… the rock community stands for unity and equality. We will not settle for anything less. Together Rock Against Racism and Punk Rock & Paintbrushes will unite to bring hope and a brighter future for our world. Come join us in our journey….

“Rock Against Racism is sharing an important social justice message of anti-racism and unity through music. Our values, morals, passion for the arts and education align perfectly with those of Punk Rock & Paintbrushes and the incredible artists they work with. We appreciate Welcome to Rockville, Download Festival and the great people behind those festivals allowing us to share our important message at their events. Music and art have the power to bring people together, embrace change and question status quo.”Cory Brennan of Rock Against Racism
