Impelliteri – War Machine CD Review
4th November 2024Buckle up, metalheads! The new Impellitteri album, War Machine, has arrived, and it’s like a turbocharged rollercoaster ride. This album is here to take you to the edge of your sanity and then push you right off!
The title track, “War Machine,” kicks things off with a riff so heavy it could benchpress your entire vinyl collection. Chris Impellitteri’s guitar solos are so fast that I half-expect them to start time-traveling. Seriously, I had to check my watch—am I in 2023 or the distant future where all guitars have jet packs?
Rob Rock’s vocals soar higher than my expectations when I open the fridge after a long day. He belts out lines with such passion that I’m convinced he’s trying to summon a thunderstorm or possibly an angry karaoke night. Tracks such as the 3 singles, “Wrath Child”, “Out Of My Mind (Heavy Metal)” and “Powergrab” are perfect for when you need to scare away your neighbors—or just your cats—while rocking out in your living room.
The production on this album is so polished, every instrument shines like it just got a makeover from a glam rock star, while the rhythm section—bassist James Pulli, and Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph—holds it all together like glue in a very sticky situation. In short, War Machine is a wild ride that’s sure to leave you breathless and possibly questioning your life choices (like that time you tried to juggle while headbanging). If you’re looking for an album that’ll make you feel like a rock star in the living room, this is it. Just be careful, this record might just make you want to strut around like you own the place… or at least the bathroom!
