What Escapes Me – Egress Point
30th May 2016I’m a huge fan of the Indian metal scene, so when Arindam Sen, guitarist with experimental / progressive metal band What Escapes Me got in touch and asked if I’d like to review their debut album I jumped at the chance.
What Escapes Me are a Kolkata based band who’ve been creating quite a name for themselves on the local and Indian metal scene, and having listened to Egress Point it’s easy to see why, because this is one of the most original albums I’ve heard in quite a while.
The 10 tracks on this album are primarily progressive metal in nature, but the band have skilfully added some classical Indian sounds to create something rather special. Not only that, but there are groove metal and djent elements added into the mix that mean that this is an audio journey unlike any other – it’s fast, it’s heavy, and it has a real depth to it that is refreshing to hear.
Have a listen to ‘Killing Tomorrow‘ and see exactly what I mean –
What Escapes Me have released an incredible debut album, and on the basis of Egress Point I expect great things of these guys in the near future. If you’re a fan of progressive or experimental metal then you really need to get yourself a copy of this. Outstanding !
