GODSTICKS ANNOUNCED FOR PLANET ROCK’S WINTERS END FESTIVAL / 2024 UK TOUR ANNOUNCED

29th August 2023 0 By Jon Deaux

Following the release of their new album ‘This Is What A Winner Looks Like’ and their fantastic UK tour in June of this year, Godsticks are heading out in early 2024 for a UK tour that includes a spot at Planet Rock’s ‘Winter’s End Festival’. Alongside that comes a first for the band with their debut headline show in Bristol and their first in Swansea! The shows will be in support of their newly released album ‘This Is What A Winner Looks Like’ – out now via Kscope.

“The band is determined to do as many live performances as possible in support of ‘This Is What A Winner Looks Like’, especially because it was live performance itself that provided the initial creative spark that spawned so much of the music on the album. We also asked and listened to where our fans want to see us play, so as well as returning to happy hunting grounds like London and Manchester, we’re doing our first-ever headline show in Bristol.

The band continues:

Plus there’s not one, but two chances for our Welsh brethren to come see us live again! We love being on tour so we’re very excited to be playing more headline gigs, and working with the good people at Planet Rock again for the Winter’s End festival.”

It’s been a long and eventful road for Godsticks since emerging onto the progressive rock scene in 2009. Lauded by METAL HAMMER as the “the UK’s most idiosyncratic rock band” it was their 3rd album the “genre-redefining” prog-metal masterpiece ‘Emergence’ -that garnered them attention and ultimately led to them being signed to KSCOPE, home of other prog-metal titans TESSERACT. Two more critically acclaimed albums have followed since then, all showcasing chugging guitar riffs, intricate solos, and a tireless, driving rhythm section, that TOTAL GUITAR MAGAZINE described as, “technically astounding prog-metal replete with hooks and melodies.”Hot on the heels of blistering festival performances in 2022, Godsticks released their sixth studio album on May 26th, 2023, titled ‘This Is What A Winner Looks Like’ –a tour-de-force in heavy, progressive, and alternative metal. As always, you can expect an explosive, high-energy live show that will have etched its way into your memory long after the final encore.

Recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios, the album was produced by James Loughrey and mastered by Maor Appelbaum. The album’s striking cover artwork was created by Richard Beeching who mentions “The band and I agreed we needed a visually engaging sleeve to match the album’s strong title, but nothing too literal.  Something just about abstract enough to allow the audience to make of it what they will.  Our primate fits the bill nicely.”
