Halahkuh – Desecration EP

Halahkuh – Desecration EP

3rd June 2014 0 By Suzie Rottencrotch

Halahkuh is a 4 piece thrash / death metal band from Pune, India.  These guys have been together since 2011 and Desecration is their first EP.

Opening track, ‘Ordeal’, is a gentle and atmospheric instrumental piece that does a great job of lulling you in… before second track, ‘Sacrilege’ kicks in and  pulverises you with its heaviness and aggression.  The guitars are fast as hell, the drumming is brutal, and the vocals sound like a rabid dog.  Fantastic!

Possessed Strangulated And Enslaved’ continues in the same vein, but has a slightly more melodic edge to it, with moments that wouldn’t sound out of place on an Iron Maiden track.  Final track, ‘In Extremis’, is my personal favourite.  It has some amazing guitar work, and the combination of death, thrash, and melodic elements is perfectly done.

With Desecration, Halahkuh have created an impressive debut.  I will be watching with real interest to see what they do next.

If you’re a fan of modern melodic death metal, do yourself a favour and check this EP out!
