Hellfrost announces the recording of the fourth album with metal drummer Derek Roddy at his personal studio

1st March 2023 0 By Jon Deaux

Hellfrost has revealed that they will be entering the studio to record their fourth album. The album, which will be released through Curtain Call Records, will feature a reformed line-up consisting of Dave Vainer on guitar and vocals, veteran drummer Angelo Duca (Generichrist, Lethal Prayer, and Trail of Gore), and bassist Ryan Blackburn.

This album will mark the first release by Hellfrost since the departure of longtime bass player Syd Vainer.

Formed in 2010 by Dave Vainer in Naples, Florida as a one-man project, Hellfrost was later joined by Syd Vainer on drums. The band has since worked to build a following in their local scene, releasing their first EP, “Phrixus,” in 2011.

Hellfrost’s first full-length album, “Pagan Son,” was released in 2016 and represented a huge step forward for the band’s songwriting and production quality. Following the success of “Pagan Son,” the band released “Extinction” in August 2019, which gained a lot of attention in their local scene.

Hellfrost began touring in their home state of Florida in support of “Extinction,” with the title track inspired by the red tide outbreak that occurred in the region in 2018. In June 2020, Gabriel Gozainy (ex-Perdition Temple) joined the band as a live drummer, with Syd Vainer switching over to bass.

The band’s third full-length album, “Dark Ages,” was released in 2021 and was the final album to feature Syd Vainer. Earlier this year, Syd Vainer left Hellfrost to pursue other musical ventures.
