Holyrude Vault – The Banshee Labyrinth – Edinburgh – 26th April 2024

27th April 2024 0 By Jon Deaux

Holyrude Vault is becoming one of the most talked about rock n’ roll bands in Edinburgh at this current time and after what I’ve witnessed tonight, it’s no wonder why and no mystery as to why The Banshee Labyrinth is sold out.

Opening the set with Take Me Back which is a high-octane rocker filled with insane hooks and a face-melting solo. The track Addiction is followed by another face melter of a tune Answers.

Their current single Lies was stupendous and only let down by the lack of a 2nd guitar player who sadly couldn’t make the show for personal reasons.

Despite this minor setback, vocalist Josh donned a guitar for the power ballad Saved Me.  What a stonker of a tune. It ticks everything you want in a rock song. It’s catchy (without being corny) an emotive guitar melody, a throbbing bass, a pounding yet not overpowering drum, and of course, buttery vocals. This is certainly the highlight in the set for me and it deserves to be recorded and released post haste.

Holyrude Vault
played a blistering set which culminated with the audience providing backing vocals to their final track of the evening Round and Round.

Drummer Chris, bassist Christian, and guitarist Connell are great musicians and are tighter than Sharon Osbornes’ current face. Vocalist Josh is a good frontman and does a decent job of not just entertaining a crowd but also engaging them. It was so nice to see a crowd living in the moment and not through a screen.

Holyrude Vault is a band well worth keeping an ear out for and catching them in a small venue before it’s too late.  They’re the real deal folks
