We are stoked to give you a mighty-fine lineup for 2024 back in Sheffield where HRH Blues belongs. Turn your dials up and get ready for this! THE LINE-UP

ERJA LYYTINEN

The Helsinki native, Blues Award-Winning Guitarist Erja Lyytinen has proudly self-produced her now twelfth studio release. The album was recorded largely in her hometown at Hollywood Studios during the first half of 2022. As with both of her previous albums, Another World and Stolen Hearts, the High-Flying Finn further explores the subjects of love and loss. Lyytinen was in the middle of one of the busiest times of her career when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. However, despite the challenges she faced, the entrepreneurial artist continued to develop new products and ideas throughout the lockdown period including, an autobiographical book titled the ‘Blues Queen‘ (now available in both Finnish and English), a pair of guitar tuition books and the development of her own brand of tea. Lyytinen’s musical pallet is vast, encompassing the very best of contemporary blues-rock whilst inspired and influenced by the blues greats of yore. And that respect for those guitar greats has been reciprocated throughout the years.

JIM KIRKPATRICK

Jim Kirkpatrick is a renowned guitarist and musician from Cheshire, England. With over 20 years of professional experience, Jim has become an in-demand session player, writer, and performer and is becoming recognized as one of the UK’s premier slide, blues, and rock guitar players. Jim has also been an onstage right-hand man to former Whitesnake guitarist and hit songwriter Bernie Marsden since 2006, and recently collaborating with him and several members of the late Rory Gallaghers band on a tribute to the legendary Irish guitarist. In between all of this Jim can be found playing many gigs in his local area and also touring the UK and Europe with Rhino’s Revenge (a band fronted by Status Quo’s bass player John ‘Rhino’ Edwards) as well as having appeared at a variety of festivals such as Download, T In The Park, Sweden Rock and soon to be HRH Blues!

TROY REDFERN

There is something about the Welsh marches. As guitarist Troy Redfern tells it, he grew up in the shadow of Hergest Ridge, made famous by Mike Oldfield. The Welsh borders; roughly that area between Hay on Way, Brecon, and Hereford: It might not quite evoke the arresting geography and climate of say Louisiana, but there’s something about the freedom of a landscape that refuses an official definition of the extent of its domain. It all fits perfectly into Troy Redfern’s world. He is a passionate, intense, free-spirited indie blues artist whose ferocious slide guitar style twists and turns timeless themes and ideas to his own ends. Troy is a guitarist for whom tone, feel, and grooves are his working tools, while his songs range from a whisper to a scream, including those outlandish moments when his vocals go to the edge of the world and he momentarily transforms himself into Screaming Jay Hawkins meets captain Beefheart.
