Interview with Mason Hill
6th October 2016 0 By DJ PixieScott & James of Mason Hill from Glasgow, who recently won the annual Highway To Hell (ran by Hard Rock Hell to find the very best unsigned acts in the UK) competition grant an interview.
We saw Mason Hill supporting the ever talented Attica Rage at Rebellion Bar in Manchester, how did you guys find that?
Scott: Well it was our first time in Manchester and the rebellion bar, and we can definitely say we were not disappointed! To be among a great line up with Thirteen stars and of course Attica Rage was a great experience for us and we can’t wait to be back later on In the year with Colour of Noise and Massive Wagons!
You guys are heading to Winterstorm next month in Scotland where there are some pretty big names playing, who are you looking forward to seeing?
Scott: Winterstorm festival has an unbelievable line up with a few bands we have shared bills with before including Toseland, Inglorious and Ricky Warrick. So we can’t wait to catch up with the guys again! We are looking forward to seeing all bands there, maybe a personal highlight for me would be Inglorious as the guys are lovely and rock!
What music are you guys listening to at the moment?
Scott: Well we all have our own individual taste ranging from Metallica to Pink Floyd! We are absolutely loving the new Stone Broken album though! Great band!
James: Haha no pranks were made on Scott we were very nice and behaved 😉 Though a week later and we’re in Manchester I wake up to Marc Craig and Scott trying to push my bed out into the hotel hallway!
James: Absolutely amazing. Me and Scott use to speak about one day hopefully getting to catch Toms attentions as when we were teens we would listen to Rock Radio a lot and always viewed him as a high-ranking industry person! So a few years later to have him by chance at the side stage for the Garage Glasgow gig was one thing however to impress him was awesome! Very rewarding and just inspires us further
James: We think this is the next step as up until this point we’ve done all the work. Having experienced people to work with will guide our choices and further put us into gear. Having the knowledge by our sides is priceless. With this management we aim to keep rising and through both Shock and Mason Hill merging into a team it can only mean good things on the way
Already it has been proven but I can’t go into those details yet! haha
James: For me the band of the weekend was Black Stone Cherry. But that may have been enhanced by the fact we had full main stage access and were at the side stage watching them as well as occasionally having a quick look from the press pit. Not only that but hanging out in the Main stage dressing area and meeting the likes of Black Stone Cherry, Thunder etc was just an incredible experience but yeah without a doubt for me Black Stone Cherry from that point of view was insane!
Anything you guys would like to say to your supporters?
Scott: I could go on for days about how much Mason Hill appreciates our fans! We have to thank our fans consistently as without them there would be no Mason Hill. People may just come to a show to enjoy us but at the end of the day, our fans are helping our dreams come true and we just can’t ever thank them enough!
