Misery Loves Company festival launches announcing headliners Twin Atlantic and Yonaka

27th March 2023 0 By Jon Deaux

Misery Loves Company, a brand new Bristol-based multi-venue festival promoted by TEG Live Europe, has announced its first wave of bands including headliners: Scottish alt-rock high fliers Twin Atlantic and Brighton rock heavyweights Yonaka. To be held in SWX, Rough Trade, The Lanes (indoor + courtyard acoustic stage), and The Station on 30th September, the event with diversity and inclusivity at its core, promises to be a major highlight in the 2023 festival calendar and in the South West of the UK.

The first announcement is some of the hottest new bands right now, plus some old favorites: Kid Bookie, Mimi Barks, Pengshui, InVisions, TheCityIsOurs, Vexed, Love Is Noise, Lizzy Farrall, InMe, RXPTRS, Gurl, Kite Thief, Immerse and Lozeak

Raising awareness around mental health issues is a major part of Misery Loves Company‘s ethos. The event has proudly partnered with Heads Above The Waves, a non-profit that raises awareness of depression and self-harm in young people.

Improving diversity and tackling gender equality in the music industry is also part of Misery Loves Company‘s mission, and they are proud to announce that 50% of the acts on the line-up will include female and/or non-binary members.

General admission tickets cost £45, and go on sale  Friday 31st March at 10 am.
Limited pre-sale tickets are also available for just £40, and will be available from Wednesday 29th March at 10 am.
There is a VIP option which includes a limited edition lanyard and queue jump for £60.
After-party tickets are £10.

Festival promoter Ian Chadderton commented: “The Bristol alternative scene means the world to me. It accepted me with open arms and everything I do is a testament to how I’ve grown over the last decade whilst immersing myself within this wonderful city. This festival is a chance for me to show the world why I fell in love with Bristol and a chance for me to give something back to the place that gave me everything.

“An important part of the ethos of the festival is for mental health awareness, diversity, and inclusivity.  We have partnered with an incredible organization called Heads Above The Waves, which are a non-profit that raises awareness of depression and self-harm in young people. They promote positive, healthy coping mechanisms and remind people that they are not alone. We are also striving to promote gender equality which is at the heart of our event, with 50% of the acts having female and/or non-binary members.

MLC23 will have an incredible line-up of some of the UK’s most exciting bands crossing all genres from alt-pop to metalcore and I’m so excited to have 2 bands sharing the headline spot, Twin Atlantic and Yonaka who will both be playing full headline sets at our main stage at SWX.

“We have huge plans for Misery Loves Company and in the coming years we want to establish ourselves as a major festival in the UK, where we bring the biggest rock and alternative artists from across the world to Bristol.”
