Staccs recruits former MTV presenter Vanessa Warwick, to host brand new programme – Heavy Metal HeyDaze
21st September 2023 0 By Jon DeauxSwedish streaming startup Staccs, has announced the recruitment of a former MTV host to head up a brand new music program on its platform. Vanessa Warwick, known for hosting the legendary ‘Headbangers Ball’ on MTV during the 1990s, will host ‘Heavy Metal HeyDaze’ – an original series on Staccs TV dedicated to showcasing the best of metal and rock music videos.
Available from September 17th on the Staccs TV channel on Samsung TV+ and Pluto TV only in the Nordics, Heavy Metal HeyDaze will take viewers on an access-all-areas tour through the metal and rock music videos and concert recordings available on Staccs. Take a deep dive into the world of metal and rock, from exclusive live performances, documentaries, interviews, and the most rocking videos from a curated Staccs playlist handpicked by Vanessa – Heavy Metal HeyDaze is the one-stop shop for all things rock. Joining Vanessa on the show as she makes a triumphant return to the screen is Sara Harding – one of the UK’s leading award-winning music TV producers, known for producing MTV’s ‘Access All Areas’.
Brand new episodes of Heavy Metal HeyDaze will be released each month, with repeats airing every Thursday at 9 p.m. CET on the Staccs TV channel and Staccs.com. Episodes will be available to watch in the UK in the near future.
Vanessa Warwick brings her twenty-plus years of experience as a TV presenter to Staccs and Heavy Metal HeyDaze, where she will present the original series which sets to roll back the years to the halcyon days of the original ‘Headbangers Ball’ of the late 1980s and 1990s. Vanessa interviewed bands including Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Metallica aiming to bridge the gap between the fans and their favorite bands, taking them behind the scenes and closer to the action. In the years after MTV, Vanessa took up stints in producing and directing music videos, working with Motorhead among other rock and roll luminaries.
Now with Heavy Metal HeyDaze, viewers can enjoy a seamless blend of music past and present, from Deep Purple, Def Leppard, Black Sabbath and Sabaton, through to Finnish-rockers Nightwish tearing down The Islanders Arms live in 2022, and everything in between.
Speaking on the announcement, Vanessa Warwick said: ‘I’m so excited to be back on screen with Heavy Metal HeyDaze on Staccs TV. It’s a walk down memory lane to those brilliant days of Headbangers Ball. But more than just an ode to the past, it’s a new opportunity to showcase the very best of metal and rock that Staccs offers and take fans closer to the music than ever before.
“Fans are the heart and soul of rock music and I’ve got high hopes Staccs will be in top demand with its brilliant programming. Gone are the days of staying up late to watch these shows or having to record episodes on VHS, as Staccs can offer this rocking content on demand. Keep it heavy!”
Robert Kviby, CEO and Chairman of Staccs, said: “It’s an absolute honour to welcome Vanessa Warwick to Staccs TV with this awesome format. Fans of metal and rock in the 90s will be able to make an epic time travel.”
Vanessa Warwick becomes the first presenter to join the Stockholm-based tech startup, which began as a subscription-only streaming platform in the Nordic and Baltic states in 2021, before launching its Staccs TV FAST channel last year on Samsung TV Plus and Pluto TV. Now with the recruitment of Vanessa and the Heavy Metal HeyDaze programming, Staccs looks to provide more exclusive and carefully programmed TV content to viewers, beyond its usual on-demand streaming material.
Brand new episodes of Heavy Metal HeyDaze will be available to watch each month in the Nordics on the Staccs TV channel found in Samsung TV+ and Pluto TV, with reruns airing on the channel each week. Details of its worldwide availability will be released soon. For more information, head to staccstv.com.
