Steven Tyler – We’re All Somebody From Somewhere – CD Review
13th July 2016As announced on The Ellen DeGeneres show, Steven Tyler releases his debut solo album We’re All Somebody From Somewhere on the 15th July via Big Machine Records.
Best known for his body of work with Aerosmith & considered one of the best rock vocalists to walk the planet this is an album fans have been waiting for for what feels like an eternity. But don’t expect to hear Aerosmith.
It’s complete mix of country fused with folk sensibilities.
The record is incredibly radio friendly & has enough pop aspects to gain new fans as can be heard on the 2 tracks that have already been issued.
The one rocker on this album The Good, The Bad, The Ugly & Me shows perfectly the vocal style Steve is known for & proves he can still wail when needed.
The album finishes with an acoustic version of the Aerosmith classic Janies Got A Gun & a re-imagining of A Piece Of My Heart. Sadly both these tracks seriously miss the mark.
If you’ve ever seen an interview with Steve he’s always said he makes music that ‘makes his dick hard.’ I cannot believe for 1 second that’s what this album has done for him as sadly it’s left mine flaccid.
It’s a brave attempt at doing something completely different outside of ‘Smith & Steven has to be given kudos for doing it. Had this been earlier in his career it could possibly forgiven & forgotten about. But as this is in his twilight it may do more harm than good.
