The Last Charge – Anima Sola
1st September 2014Next to review is Hungarian Hardcore band THE LAST CHARGE and their new EP ‘Anima Sola’, so what do our Hungarian brothers bring to the table? Well this EP is 4 tracks of brutal crushing hardcore…this is unapologetic brutal to the point smash your face in hardcore. This is raw and spit in the face of adversity music. Don’t want your ear drums to be punished and sodomised then don’t come near this release as the 4 tracks over 15 minutes would leave you as a rocking babbling wreck in the corner of the room gentling sobbing for it all to stop and go away….!!!
However if you love brutal music then you’ve got the right release, with devastating colossal riffs, chugging brutal grooves and bone crunching drumming this is hardcore the way it is meant to be. Yeah okay the vocals are probably the weak part of the release and they sound a little to death growls than hardcore and amateurish in parts. However they still enthral the listener and get under your skin like the rest of the release and rammed down your throat. They also have a slight influence of SOILENT GREEN “Sewn Mouth Secrets” era in some of the songs and especially the first track ‘Order Through Chaos’ and the sludge/grindcore adds to the brutal hardcore.
If am honest a full album by THE LAST CHARGE might become a little too much and might lose some of the impact that this 15 minute EP has had on my senses, however I will have to check this theory out by purchasing one of their two previous albums, so maybe watch this space for a review…
