Trevors Head – Tricolossus CD Review

Trevors Head – Tricolossus CD Review

3rd January 2016 0 By Jon Deaux

Sludge/Stoner band Trevors Head from Redhill in Surrey self release their second album Tricolossus 26th February 2016.

Full of typical sludge/stoner music with clean vocal I was hoping for a lot more.

The genre is already full of generic sound bands & unfortunately Trevors Head is one of them.

Musically they’re a sound band & quite melodic. It’s unfortunately the vocals & general tone let them down. They’re just far to clean & have no grit to them.

Live, I can imagine this band being very Queens of the Stone Age influenced it just doesn’t seem to translate to studio.

The band is incredibly tight sonically, the riffs & beats are memorable. But they’re not re-inventing the wheel & sound far to generic in an already overpopulated genre.

Over all I found this album devoid of life & feeling. It’s almost as if this band are in the death rattle stages & on the brink of calling it a day.

Live this band have been described as “fucking mental” but it just doesn’t translate to studio work & comes across as just going through the motions.

In this reviewers personal opinion I suggest that they either record a live studio album or release a full on live album where they can feed off they’re audience.
