Utilitarian to unleash Stay Angry – a new five track EP of raging metallic hardcore, featuring Bolt Thrower’s Andy Whale!
20th October 2020 0 By Jon DeauxMere months after the release of their Fight War, Not Wars Destroy Power, Not People full length debut, Utilitarian are back with a new five track EP of unbridled, righteous rage! The band may have barely taken a breath since their last primal scream against injustice, but as vocalist Jon Crowder has explained, “take a look at the world around you, there’s no shortage of things to get mad about”. In this year of pandemics, police brutality, the erosion of civil liberties and the super-rich feeding on the misery of the common people, who could argue with him? What better time to stand up and rage against the machine? What better time to fight back and stay fucking angry!
Stay Angry features three brand new Utilitarian tracks, perfect examples of their trademark blend of explosive extreme metal, snarling punk and bloodied but unbowed hardcore. The highlight of the EP has to be the blistering attack of ‘Anarchy (Justice Without Order)’, which features two very special guests. Behind the kit Andy Whale (Bolt Thrower, Memoriam, Darkened) lays down his unmistakeable thunder, while on lead guitar the brilliant Paul Nazarkardeh (Formicarius, De Profundis) brings an additional sheen of metallic power. In addition to the three original tracks Stay Angry features two carefully selected covers – Doom’s ‘Police Bastard’ and the Dead Kennedys classic, ‘Police Truck’ – two songs that could have been written especially for the Stay Angry EP.
As always Utilitarian will demonstrate their unflinching adherence to their principles by donating every penny they receive from sales of Stay Angry to charity. When you invest in this barrage of furious music, which will hit the streets on November 6th, you’ll be supporting Inquest, the only charity providing expertise on state related deaths and their investigation to bereaved people, lawyers, advice and support agencies, the media and parliamentarians. So when November 6th dawns and the revolution begins, be ready to raise your voice in solidarity with Utilitarian!
