Video Nasties return with new single ‘Harvest of Flies’ / APF Records

Halloween may have passed but there’s still some remnants of evil lurking behind as Video Nasties rises up once again with another unearthly offering – new single ‘Harvest of Flies’ released digitally today on APF Records.

Following their debut album ‘Dominion’ on APF Records in 2020, and stand alone single ‘Draw The Shades’ in 2021, ‘Harvest of Flies’,  recorded by Stu Taylor and mixed/mastered by James Arter, is a fierce follow-up and an engrossing taster of what’s to come on their highly anticipated 2nd album. Bassist Rick Owen provides an update.

“HoF feels like a very natural progression from Dominion and Draw The Shades, at its core it’s still very much us but we wanted to explore other areas we only got the chance to touch upon on the first album and experiment with new dynamics. Lyrically, the song is about the duality of the haves/have nots, the living and the dead.

Writing for the album is well underway after a difficult 12 months for the band. We’re excited to get into the studio come spring to lay down the follow up to Dominion. We have a few songs in the bank already and HoF is just a sample of what’s to come from VN in 2024.”

Comprised of members from some of Liverpool’s finest heavy exports in The Bendal Interlude, SSS, Magpyes and Iron Witch, Video Nasties mixed death metal with punky and thrashy undertones, creating something morbidly macabre and devilishly debauched on their debut record. Picking up universal praise from the likes of Kerrang, Metal Hammer, Metal Sucks, Decibel Magazine, Metal Injection, Zero Tolerance, Total Guitar, Alternative Press and Metalhead Magazine, ‘Dominion’ also caught the attention of Trivium’s Matt Heafy who included it in his top albums of 2020.

Video Nasties went on to play Bloodstock and Damnation Festival as well as supporting the likes of Orange Goblin and touring with fellow horror enthusiasts Aggressive Perfector. Expect more shows to come in 2024.

‘Filthy, disgusting, and ebola-level infectious deathrash – Metal Sucks

‘Straps giant riffs to dark post-punk to create something as heavy as it is haunting’ – Kerrang

A record that seems destined to turn heads…before twisting them straight off – Decibel Magazine

Thrash, death metal and horror movies. How the hell were we ever not gonna love this?’ – Metal Hammer
