Gravecrusher – Morbid Black Oath

Gravecrusher – Morbid Black Oath

9th June 2014 0 By Suzie Rottencrotch

Xtreem Music are a Spanish label specialising in death metal.  Recently, they’ve released some cracking stuff including albums by Wrong, Death Vomit and Infest to name just a few.  So I was thrilled when Kunal Choksi sent me a copy of another Xtreem Music release for review – the new Gravecrusher CD.

Gravecrusher are from Hungary, and play death metal that is intense and brutal, and that perfectly combines an old school death metal vibe with their own unique sound.  They released a demo in 2012 (the impressive 3 track Mutilation Ritual), and a split EP in January 2014 (Eternal Mutilation, along with with fellow Hungarians, Necrosodomy).

Morbid Black Oath is their latest release – an awesome 4 track mini CD, with the 3 tracks from the Mutilation Ritual demo included as a bonus.  It’s heavy as fuck and catchy as hell.  There are elements of early Bolt Thrower, early Entombed, Unleashed and early Sentenced here, but the guys have created their own individual sound and listening to this is a refreshing skull pounding experience.

It’s impressive stuff, and if you’re a fan of old school death metal you need to check this out!

Score: 8.5 out of 10
