Steve Hackett – Blues With A Feeling (expanded version) – CD Review
13th June 2016Back in 1994 Steve Hackett, who is probably best known for his work with the prog rock band Genesis, released what was to be one of the most important albums of his career, Blues With A Feeling.
With the master tapes being re-discovered & remastered Steve thought it would be a good idea to add 2 brand new recorded tracks especially for this re-issue.
Steve Hackett has this to say “The Blues is a style of music that’s intensely emotional and exciting. The music is the place where truly alive electric guitar sounds were first-born. All the sonic developments that rock music inherited stem from that”.
This album is certainly exciting. You can’t help but be a one man air band when listening to this gem.
The rawness of this album has been re-captured on this release & everything has been re-balanced.
Sadly the new tracks On Cemetary Road & Patch of Blue do have a tinge of new production value. Saying that, they do fit in well. Especially the last track Patch of Blue, which shows off Hacketts blues credentials perfectly. An instrumental gem.
All in all it’s a good record & one of Hacketts best.
