1st Album ever bought: Cannibal Corpse – Hammer Smashed Face EP

First ever gig: Rage Against the Machine at the Manchester Apollo just after they released ‘Evil Empire’

Best gig: (to many to choose from) Downset in 1996 at the Hop & Grape (now Academy 3) as they over sold it so it was rammed, it was a mental hardcore pit and it was the second time I had ever staged dived and I did about 3 stage dives per song!!! They also had Machine Head and the lead singer of Shelter join them on stage, Machine Head were in Liverpool recording ‘The More Things Change‘. Got all their signatures and hung out with them for 15 minutes. (Machine Head are all really small, but nice…)

Also Cannibal Corpse, At The Gates and Dissection all on the same bill at Ashton Witchwood and I was only 14 when I went and it was mental…

Worst Gig: Either Avenged Sevenfold as they were awful and it’s the only gig I left during a set or Downset in 2008 as there was only 10 people and I forgot that only the first two Downset albums are any good the rest are quite dire.

Bizarre Experience at a Gig: Probably Dark Funeral supporting Dimmu Borgir at Hop & Grape (now Academy 3) as they had 2 massive inverted crosses on the small stage on fire during there whole set and the place was quite packed. So the heat was immense and all you could smell was petrol and wood. The band also looked uncomfortable being so close to the crosses…!!!

Or maybe Mayhem with the real pig head on the mic stand which they launched into the crowd…!!!!

Or Christians trying to boycott Deicide…who went out of their way to buy tickets and try to do a protest at the back of the venue. Thinking they could out shout Deicide?!?!??!?
