Hawkwind – Into The Woods
15th May 2017Hawkwind are currently riding high on the crest of a wave of new-found glory. Not only has this year (2017) already seen an abundance of Hawkwind classics re-issued in 3 spectacular box sets, but they’re just about to follow-up with a brand new album.
Into The Woods is in part a continuation of last years UK top 40 album, The Machine Stops. Into The Woods is a lot more technical & musically explosive than The Machine Stops but it’s still unmistakably Hawkwind.
From the opening of the title track right the way through to the end of Magic Mushroom, this is an album of the purest green. In fact it doesn’t get much greener than this album & that is due to the conceptual and lyrical themes behind this album which are once again inspired by E.M. Forster.
There is no stand out track on this record. They all flow very nicely into one another & yet you can listen to each track as a stand alone.
Once again, Dave Brock has taken the reigns & steered the band into musical territories unknown, bearing in mind this band has been around for 4 decades now & there’s not many places Hawkwind haven’t explored.
There’s just no stopping Dave Brock & crew.
Into the Woods is one small step for Dave Brock & one giant leap for Hawkwind.
