India is producing some incredible experimental / prog rock bands right now.  My personal favourites include Symphony Novel, Coshish, Gingerfeet … and now Blank Planet.

Vocalist Niranj Suresh contacted me to ask if I could review their latest single, and boy am I glad he did, because ‘Maya‘ is an outstanding track of experimental rock / metal that manages to perfectly combine technical prog rock elements with a more aggressive riff based sound.  It’s catchy as hell, with impressive musicianship from Durwin D’souza (guitars), Chandhu Salim Kumar (bass), and Akhil Babu (drums), all topped off beautifully by Niranj Suresh who switches effortlessly between clean singing and more feral sounding growling vocals.

This is a truly incredible song and as a result, I will be eagerly watching to see what Blank Planet do next – fantastic !!
