Chrome Division – Infernal Rock Eternal
3rd January 2014Oslo Power Doom Rockers Chrome Division release their new album on January 17th. Forming in 2004 they’ve so far released three previous albums to pave the way for this offering.
Upon first listening comparisons at times made me think on some tracks of German metallers Helloween melodically and with the Gruff vocal style of lead singer Shady Blue comparisons to the mighty Lemmy (listen to “ No Bet For Free”). That said the album is tight, at times aggressive, bluesy and powerful and best of all, consistent, no lapse in quality throughout. Standout track for me is “Lady Of Perpetual Sorrow” clear crisp acoustics open the melody before it slows to grinding power chords and beating fists on tables ( and chests ) delivery. There are truly an array of different styles throughout the album and Chrome Division still manage to set their own stamp on it all. So far this album is on consistent rotation in the car and is worthy to be so, to start the year with a review of this quality then only sets the standard for the albums this reviewer has to listen to.
Download promoters stand up and listen…. Bands like this could save your flailing line up for this year!
