HOGJAW ANNOUNCE DEBUT HEADLINE UK TOUR
1st June 2018Though hailing from the Arizona deserts, Hogjaw are no strangers to European shores. Last year, the band played more than 40 headline shows across mainland Europe, supporting the release of their new album, ‘Way Down Yonder’ (on Snakefarm Records). From late September through to mid-November 2017, Hogjaw visited 11 different countries, playing to sold-out houses along the way.
Now, in 2018, it’s time for the UK to feel the power of The ’Jaw first-hand, with a debut headline run confirmed for October.
“To all of our UK folks, Hogjaw is ready to release the rock ‘n’ roll across the island!” says vocalist/guitarist JB Jones, “We’ve been waiting for this opportunity for some time, and can’t wait to see all of our friends and fans. Ready the whiskey, ready the pints. We’ll see ya’ll soon!”
Hogjaw are four longstanding friends (“Four fingers folded into a fist”, as they put it): JB Jones (vocals and guitar), Jimmy Rose (lead guitar), Elvis DD (bass) & Kwall (drums).
‘Way Down Yonder’ is their sixth studio album and sees the boys delivering 11 tracks of “hard hitting Southern-fried electric guitar rock”, pulling no punches and leaving not one goddam shot on the bar. One of the foremost aspects of Southern Rock is that the music’s based on heritage and lifestyle, with real stories told and common values holding sway. The Hogjaw ‘family’ are cast in the finest traditions of the genre, as their new recordings clearly show.
“This is exquisite stuff,” said Powerplay Magazine (giving ‘Way Down Yonder’ a perfect 10/10) “pure and authentic good ole southern rock.”
Produced by the band themselves & Byron Filson, this is music that proudly flies the flag for pure rock from bygone days, tapping into the spirit of Capricorn Records’ legends like The Allman Brothers, The Marshall Tucker Band and The Outlaws.
Out now via Snakefarm Records on CD & digital (with the LP release coming later this year) ‘Way Down Yonder’ features 11 new tracks ranging from the clean, mellow pickin’ of ‘Back Home Today’ through to the heavy swamp groove of ‘Never Surrender’ and the foot-to-the-floor riffin’ of video track ‘Brown Water’.
“This new album is sure to please fans of the classic Hogjaw sound, while opening some doors into new elements and textures,” says The ’Jaw, “ ‘Way Down Yonder’ is guaranteed to bring back that old-time rock ‘n’ roll vibe we all loved so much. Just put the music on, pour a cold beverage and clear your schedule!”
Right now, Hogjaw are working on a video for the album’s supernaturally-themed title track: a song steeped in the kind of drive only big men with attitude and blunt razors can bring to the table.
They’re also making plans for the October trip: the band’s previous UK history is confined to an appearance at Ramblin’ Man Fair in 2016, plus a warm-up event in London, but this time around, they’ll be bringing their own particular brand of Southern pride to cities all across the UK.
