KATATONIA TO CLOSE UPRISING 7 IN LEICESTER

With the seventh installment already full of some big names in Metal and Alternative music, UPRISING is thrilled to announce the headliner for UPRISING 7. Closing the main event on Saturday 25th May will be Melancholic Swedish Metallers, KATATONIA.

Spanning a thirty-year career and eleven studio albums, KATATONIA is a band who do not shy away from the evolution of their music. Gathering praise in the nineties for their unique Gothic-tinged, Doom Metal sound, the band released the genre-bending debut, ‘Dance of December Souls’ (1993) followed by another nine studio albums and several EPs. After a brief hiatus, the band came back stronger than ever in 2020 with their album ‘City Burials’, a fresh take on the band’s legacy. Skip forward three years and the band has now released their new album ‘Sky Void Of Stars’.

With an ever-growing fanbase and a huge back catalog, UPRISING is thrilled to host KATATONIA‘s brand of Doom & Gloom.

The band commented “We are looking forward to a swift return to the UK in May 2024, playing Leicester Uprising! Don’t miss out!”

Simon Yarwood of Uprising has said “How do we even try and top Uprising 6? That in itself was a Monumental challenge! Well, I can honestly say that Katatonia has been on our bucket list since the inception of Uprising, and for us to welcome them in 2024 means a great deal, I think my partner Matt is still doing a Cheshire Cat impression. This year was our most successful Uprising to date and we really want to keep that momentum going, we’ve booked some exciting homegrown and international up-and-coming acts (more of that to come ), both well-established and legacy acts, and we have a wonderful team and one of the best indoor multi-stage venues in the UK, and most importantly the best fans, adding Katatonia to all that should make 2024 something special.”

Performing across the weekend at UPRISING will be Katatonia, Brujeria, Breed 77, Discharge, Cellar Darling, Ramage Inc, Forlorn, Lastelle, Sugar Horse, Seething Akira, Tribe Of Ghosts, Mage, Battalions, Hang The Bastard, Foul Body Autopsy, Akilla, Voidwalker and much more to be announced.
