LIAM GALLAGHER JOHN SQUIRE – LIAM GALLAGHER JOHN SQUIRE – CD REVIEW

5th March 2024 0 By Jon Deaux

Every so often a record comes along that just one listen is not enough. You then realize that you’re listening to something special. It’s almost as tho the stars aligned to produce this record. This self-titled album from Liam Gallagher and John Squire IS such a record.

When I first heard the track Just Another Rainbow, I knew I had to have this record. With its perfect blend of Brit Pop, Psychedelia, and stupidly catchy it ticks all the boxes of what an earworm song should be.

Then the buggers go on to release Mars to Liverpool and I have a gentleman’s trouser moment.
There’s the blues-tinged Love You Forever and I’m A Wheel and I’m close to shooting my load.

I’m going to level with you dear reader, there is not a shite track on this record. The coupling of the Oasis frontman and Stone Roses guitarist was always going to produce something interesting. However, this record is pure gold.

Who needs an Oasis reunion when this pairing and album exists?  This is a record that deserves multiple listens as you’ll discover subtle nuances that you missed on the first listen. I must’ve played this album a couple of dozen times since its release and I’m still discovering.

Liam Gallagher and John SSquire have produced an incredibly strong contender for album of the year.
