Matt Pearce & The Mutiny Release Their New Single ‘Got A Thing Going On’ & Premieres Its Video

Matt Pearce & The Mutiny aim to add extra frisson to Valentine’s Day by releasing a brand-new single ‘Got A Thing Going On’: a tasty funk-filled dish straight from ‘The Soul Food Store’ (their fantastic second album), accompanied by its exuberant performance video.

Listen to ‘Got A Thing Going On’ and you’ll hear the big, multi-layered sound that Matt Pearce & The Mutiny can create, with plenty of funk woven into the mix. You’ll feel sheer joie de vivre and fun too – very apt for a Valentine release!

“I can’t wait to share the first song from my new album, and to show everyone that we definitely have Got A Thing Going On!” says Matt, “The song has been in the live set for a while and was the first one written for the album, so it makes total sense to get it out there now.

“What’s more, to put out such a ‘raunchy and horn-driven’ song on Valentine’s Day feels very appropriate! We’re happy if it helps anyone out there get their thing going on too…”

Drawing on Matt’s favourite musical influences, with a strong 70s vibe, ‘Got a Thing Going On’ catches you with its strong guitar hook, then lays out the full-blown funk, complete with strong sax.

It fits like a glove with Matt’s mission statement for his musical mutiny: “I wanted to combine the sounds that I love: rocking blues and funky, soulful grooves. I could call it a ‘Funky Soul-a-delic Blues Rock Jam Thing’, but you can just call it a seriously funky blues band, like the Black Crowes playing Prince songs, or vice versa.”

The video shows Matt Pearce & The Mutiny having a blast bringing this vibrant song to life, in subdued, warm surroundings, with a touch of Seventies décor in the candles, standard lamps and brown-striped backdrop.

“The video was huge fun to shoot,” grins Matt, “We did it on the Thames in the super-groovy Soup Studios (Lightship 95 Recording Studios), where I also recorded the album and did the photos for the sleeve.

“It’s such a chilled out-place: it literally became The Soul Food Store for me during the last couple of years, so it’s the perfect place to go have a boogie! Truly it’s the boat that rocks…”

The single’s 11-track parent album, ‘The Soul Food Store’ will be released on 1^st April through Mutinear Records and brims with funky musical goodness: the kind of sound that Matt adores and set out to create when he first formed this project. Smokin’ hot songs delivered with passion and gusto, in a way that “sounds both vintage and modern at the same time!” (as Darren Redick of Planet Rock Radio described the Matt Pearce and The Mutiny sound).
