The L.I.F.E. Project Release New Track ‘Ignite’; Announce Debut EP21st May 2021
THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT, the musical collaboration between Stone Sour’s guitarist Josh Rand and co-songwriter & vocalist Casandra Carson, have today dropped another new track, Ignite, from their debut self-titled EP set to arrive on July 9th.
Last month the duo dropped their first track, The Nothingness, which was quickly added to the Rock Hard playlist on Spotify, Breaking Metal on AppleMusic, Break Through Rock on Amazon and Metal Radar on Deezer.
UK & EU pre-orders for CD, vinyl and cassette editions are available now exclusively from the Nuclear Blast store. All physical formats are all hand signed and numbered, with the Nuclear Blast store stocking an exclusive gold vinyl edition. You can also pre-save the track at streaming services here.
Ignite is accompanied by a lyric video, which you can watch below and pays homage to the heavy riffing of KORN, thanks to the special guitar Josh used while crafting the song. He tells us:
“Ignite is the first time I’ve written and recorded a song with a seven-string guitar. I got this guitar in a trade with Munky from KORN when we were out on tour with them 2017. I gave the song a KORN-like vibe in the main riff, as an homage to the band.”
Speaking about the song’s lyrical content, Casandra adds;
“Ignite is all about allowing yourself to be happy. Personally, sometimes I feel bad about doing well or having success when the people I love are having a rough time.”
Stylistically, THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT is a fluid combination of classic metal sensibility and Rand’s penchant for pushing the boundaries of contemporary heavy. Nurturing the project from concept to execution, the EP was written, arranged, recorded and produced by Rand in his home studio and mixed by Josh Wilbur (Korn, Megadeth, Lamb of God, Parkway Drive).
This collaborative effort with Carson presents an important milestone in an already decorated career for Rand, one that has been enhanced by this partnership with a one-of-a-kind vocal lead who understood how to compliment his music with her lyrical pen. The result is a five-track EP that builds off the sonic stamp he established during his six album, twenty-year tenure with Stone Sour.
