Hammerfest Day 1 Reivew

Written by Lindsey

Hammerfest weekend is once again upon us here in Wales where the metal family all pulls together for 3 fantastic days of music, and it looks like the gods are looking down on us this mighty fine weekend as the sun has made an appearance too!

Hammerfest is set in the Haven holiday village in Pwllheli, Hafan y Mor.

With 2 large stages and an acoustic stage this weekend is going to be home for some marvellous acts.

The staff greet us with warm smiles as we collect our passes, and after having a look around the site we see there are lots of stalls of all varieties with lots of goodies to purchase, one of which specifically took our eye this year with light up bottles, shot glasses and pint pots for really reasonable prices.

Thursday we manage to catch RSJ on the large stage, these hardcore metallers who hail from York are sonically ear ravaging, as this powerhouse of sound melt your senses and unleash their rage upn this stage.

The band having just supported the legendary Skindred and Evil Scarecrow have also been announced for Wildfire Festival 2017, this is enough to tell you that these guys mean business, watch this space these guys are going places!

Next we see Bloodshot Dawn, these guys are a lot heavier than the last act. This 3 piece from Portsmouth UK creates carnage on stage with their bombardment of mutilating riffs and crunchy choruses this band has firmly made their stamp on Hammerfest here today.

These guys have written their album and are about to hit the studio to start recording, this is one album we can’t wait to get our hands on!

Next are Venom Inc, this bold old school metal band are balls to the wall goodness of the metal variety.

This 3 piece metal band is a demolition, creating destruction and mayhem, their performance ruthless and all out to prove that they are the kings of this stage.

With intense riffs and striking solos, these guys came, saw and conquered here today.

Armored Saint next on stage, after catching up with these guys this morning for a brief chat and catch up these were one band I was eager to see hit the stage.

This 5 piece heavy metal band from LA pull out all the stops, after launching a pledge campaign for their latest album ‘Carpe Noctum’, these guys give us a taste of this here tonight.

With blistering choruses, their immense dynamics as a band are tight, their live performance absolutely superb.

If you haven’t seen these guys before I highly recommend going and seeing them they won’t disappoint!

A great first day here at Hammerfest!
