Graspop Metal Meeting is opening its doors tomorrow! Once again, tens of thousands of enthusiastic metalheads from all across the globe will fraternise on the Dessel plains. The only killjoy appears to be the weather. We’ve had a steady downpour for several days in a row. While the festival arena, the campsite and Metal Town have been spared, several car parks have unfortunately been declared unusable. As a result, visitors are advised to opt for one of the modes of transport listed below.

The weather charts are predicting unsettled weather for the festival weekend as well with rain and dry spells so don’t forget to pack your raincoat and/or all-weather boots. Anyway, real metalheads will weather any storm, right? We are confident GMM216 will be another landmark edition in spite of muddy selfies, squishing boots and colourful raincoats.

Useful tips
•  Come by train. A free shuttle bus will take you from Mol station to the festival arena.
•  If you’re staying nearby it’s best to come by bicycle.
•  If you do come by car, be sure to carry the maximum number of passengers and turn off your GPS system. We will guide you to an accessible parking space as fast as possible.

By train
Fans travelling by TRAIN should get off at Mol railway station (at 8km from the festival site). From Mol, a free shuttle service organised by De Lijn will take you to the festival site. For just €10, festivalgoers can buy a Graspop Metal Meeting e-train ticket. This ticket covers the outward and return journey by train in 2nd class between any Belgian departure station and MOL train station. The outward and return journey must be made in the period from Thursday 16th through Monday 20th June 2016. More info at thetrain.be/graspop

The NMBS/SNCB is scheduling extra capacity on Thursday, Friday and Monday to take festivalgoers to their destination as seamlessly as possible. It’s important to note there are no night trains: if you want to go home at the end of your festival day please keep in mind that the last train leaves Mol station around 10pm. Every festival ticket includes access to our campsite so if you’re planning on leaving the next morning, you can spend the night there.

Are you flying in?
Then make be sure you to choose one of the following airports: Brussels Airport (BRU), Brussels South Charleroi (CRL) or Eindhoven Airport (EIN). EventExpressBus offers a direct transfer from the airport to the festival. The ticket for this shuttle is not included in your festival ticket so you need to book your seat on the bus in advance. NOTE: If you’re travelling home on Monday then don’t book a flight before noon because you’ll never make it to the airport in time.

Still coming by car?
If you do come by car please note that several car parks will be closed. Be sure to carry the maximum number of passengers and turn off your GPS system as soon as you leave the motorway. Follow the signs for FESTIVAL DESSEL and the instructions given by the police and the festival parking staff. They will guide you to an available parking space both swiftly and smoothly. You can have someone (or a TAXI) drop you off in the KISS & RIDE zone on the market place of Dessel (GPS: Markt, Dessel). You can also arrange to be picked up here after the festival. The free Kiss & Ride shuttle will take you to the festival arena.

Full details on the accessibility of the festival are available here.
